Dance Party at Bryant Park [NYC] - June 6

Bryant Park presents their spring / Summer series, Dance Party. A free outdoor event that features Live Music and Dance Classes for a unique experience each Wednesday evening. Learn the steps from 6pm-7pm and then test out your new moves to live music from 7pm-8:30pm. All ages are welcome to explore a different dance genre each week, including bachata, tango, salsa, and more.

Tangolandó: Wednesday, May 16, 6:00pm–8:30pm
Tangolandó is a new form of dance music that fuses tango with varieties of Latin and African rhythms. Learn the steps to this cross-cultural art form, and then dance to live music by the artists – Sofia Tosello and Yuri Juarez – who helped create it.

Cumbia and Vallenato: Wednesday, May 30, 6:00pm–8:30pm
One of the most well-known and acclaimed Colombian musicians in New York, Gregorio Uribe brings his powerful band to perform a show featuring two classics of Colombian folk music: Cumbia and Vallenato.

Bachata: Wednesday, June 6, 6:00pm–8:30pm
Beloved Bachatero Wilson Daniel and seven other talented musicians from the Dominican Republic come together to play bachata with a classical feel and rooted sound.

Latin Festival: Friday, June 8, 5:00pm–10:00pm
Latin Festival is the grand finale of Dance Party, a series hosted and produced by Talia Castro-Pozo. Festivities start at 5pm and continue until 10pm.

An innovative exponent of Latin jazz, salsa and pop music for five decades, the Grammy-nominated New Swing Sextet plays Cha Cha and Boogaloo tunes that capture the excitement and turbulence of 1960’s New York. Renowned Venezuelan percussionist Luisito Quintero, whose 3rd Element project was nominated in 2015 for the Best Latin Album Grammy, infuses salsa music with Afro-Caribbean rhythms to create a fresh and dynamic sound.
